|Welcome to the European Delirium Association's 2012 meeting website.|
|We hope to see you in Bielefeld, Germany!|
The small but growing community of specialists and interested, coming from various medical fields and professions have met yearly since 2006 under the auspices of the European Delirium Association (EDA).
The EDA initiated the conference to provide a platform for exchange of clinical and scientific knowledge on delirium, bringing together results from basic science, clinical trials/treatment, epidemiology, preventive measures, public health aspects and diagnostics.
On behalf of the Evangelische Krankenhaus Bielefeld, we are very pleased to host the 2012 meeting of the European Delirium Association!

The 2012 meeting will be held in Bielefeld, a city of 325,000 located in the mid-northern part of Germany. Bielefeld was founded in 1214; however, the region did get some mention a bit earlier, being the scene of the great Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 6 B.C.
Today Bielefeld is home to over 20,000 university students, is an important regional cultural center, hosts some big names in the mechanical and food industries (i.e. Germany's foremost Pudding manufacturer...), a no-longer [ :( ] Bundesliga football club and is the founding site of the von Bodelschwinghsche Stiftungen Bethel - it being Europe's largest charitable diaconal institution, having provided short and long term care for patients with epilepsy, mental and psychiatric disorders as of the late 19th century. The Von Bodelschwinghsche Stiftungen are also the main shareholders of the Evangelische Krankenhaus Bielefeld - and its Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. That's where delirium matters!
